About Me

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Thanks for taking time out of your day to visit my about me. I'm a real person, so my about me is real and not manufactured. My site is about learrning to be frugal and what other topics evolve, I myself have a hard time with items found on the web, everyone claims to be an expert on something [more about that later] but they are marketing their web site, so sometimes, not everytime, the information is for selling purposes. I will try no to do that on this site. My goal is to be helpful. If you see an advertisement, that just what it is, an advertisement, not an endorsement. If I endorse something because I've tried it, you will know.

My favorite quote is "Nothing cures insomnia except the realization that its time to get up." -author unknown and "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups" - From a tshirt I saw.

I love learning, always learning. As my body ages and my mind evolves, I realize its not too bad, After 5 kids, I am ripened, but not yet seasoned. Maybe after grandmotherhood.

I am a SAHM Going on 49. Mom of 5, ages 14 to 27. I've been in the Navy, worked as an advocate, was a bookkeeper for a while, a Case Worker, Researcher, Title Searcher; My paralegal degree allowed me to start working as a paralegal but then kid 4 and 5 came along and I've been home ever since. I've volunteered accross the years for Girl Scouts, Booster Club parent of kids interests, music, agriculture, football, baseball. Redhats , County Extensions, and MUFON.

My hobbies and interests are Web Marketing, Research, Stained glass, Poly Clay, Kayaking, Hunting, Ufology, Kids, Cooking, Crafts, Sewing, Embroidery, Beading, Exopolitics and Politics, Android Phones, Computers, Astronomy, Pets, with 5 kids and 5 acres, we have done livestock, and all sorts of indoor pets; current exotic pet, Cosmo the chinchilla.

My favorite books are by Zechariah Sitchin, and Erma Bombeck. That's a stretch of category!

I'm not a big TV watcher, except History channel, Discovery, National Geo Channel, that kind of stuff. But I do like LOST. A Christmas Story. AND NO SPOON FED NEWS.

My favorite music, Classic Rock, but I enjoy Alternative and Country depending on my mood.

On several sites with profiles, they ask, "what you are expert in?" I laugh. Really what is an EXPERT. So many EXPERTS claim to be experts. The connotation of words can change with time, expert being one of them, especially with the advent of the blog-sphere . What defines an expert? As of today, current Google.com search, define:expert: 1. adept: having or showing knowledge and skill and aptitude; "adept in handicrafts"; "an adept juggler"; "an expert job"; "a good mechanic"; "a ... 2. a person with special knowledge or ability who performs skillfully 3. technical: of or relating to or requiring special knowledge to be understood; "technical terminology"; "a technical report"; "technical language."

What must one know in order to determine the reference of a word? Sometimes a lot. To me an expert is someone I can rely on officially or legally. Someone who is widely recognized for extensive knowledge in a particular field or subject. All else is just training, education and knowledge. Just because one is educated in a particular field doesn't make one an expert.

I try to research those who claim they are experts when I am researching or learning. I discover these experts have no history, no contact information,no links to other pages to verify their claims. Here lies a problem. For many people, if it is written, it is. How many times have you heard someone quote a so called "expert" they've heard or read, as if its gospel. Yep, it'll come to ya, infomercials, marketing blogs, wives tales, urban legends, friend of a friend word of mouth. Notwithstanding, true experts who spin the expert information based on a vested interest - also not an expert one might want to consider. So, all that said, I definitely would not call myself an expert. I would say, I've learned a lot about a lot of stuff. Even after 5 kids ages 14 to 27, I am always learning. And that is what this site is about. Thanks for reading.
